Vier europäische Länder, vier Perspektiven und ein gemeinsames Ziel: Die Stärkung von echter Inklusion von Menschen mit Behinderungen auf den ersten Arbeitsmarkt.
Am Mittwoch 05.05. diskutieren Europaabgeordnete Katrin Langensiepen, Franz Wolfmayr (Österreich), Luis Cervilla (Ass. Direktor des D-WISE Netzwerk, Spanien/Belgien) und Aideen M. Hartney (Direktorin des National Disability Authority, Ireland) wie Inklusion auf dem Arbeitsmarkt besser gelingen kann.
Zehn Jahre nach der Ratifizierung der UN-Behindertenrechtskonvention sieht es in der Europäischen Union immer noch schlecht um die Situation von Menschen mit Behinderungen. Weniger als 50 Prozent haben eine Arbeit und viele bleiben ihr Leben lang abgeschottet in Werkstätten beschäftigt, ohne Arbeitnehmerstatus und ohne Perspektive auf einen Übergang auf den ersten Arbeitsmarkt. Das steht klar der UN-Behindertenrechtskonvention entgegen und muss nicht sein. Die Europäische Kommission hat in diesem Jahr die neue EU-Strategie zugunsten von Menschen mit Behinderungen vorgestellt und arbeitet an einem Paket zur Verbesserung der Arbeitsmarktsituation von Menschen mit Behinderungen.
Es ist Zeit für einen Paradigmenwechsel, Zeit umzudenken und Wege zu finden, wie Menschen mit und ohne Behinderung zusammenarbeiten, gemeinsam und mit der entsprechenden Unterstützung.
Es gibt genug inklusive Alternativen zum Werkstattsystem, die nur darauf warten politisch gefördert zu werden.

Die Veranstaltung findet auf Deutsch und Englisch statt und wird in beide Sprache übersetzt. Gebärdensprachdolmetschung wird ebenfalls vorhanden sein.

Different European countries, different perspectives and one common goal: The strengthening of real inclusion of people with disabilities in the first labour market.
On Wednesday 05.05. MEPs Katrin Langensiepen (Germany), Franz Wolfmayr (Austria), Luis Cervilla (Ass. Director of the D-WISE network (Spain/Belgium) and Aideen M. Hartney (Director of the National Disability Authority Ireland) will discuss how we can transit to a more inclusive European labour market.
Ten years after the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the situation of people with disabilities in the European Union is still poor. Fewer than 50 percent have a job, and many remain segregated in sheltered workshops for the rest of their lives, with no employment status and no prospect of moving into the primary labour market. This is clearly contrary to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and does not have to be.
This year the European Commission presented the new European Disability Strategy and is working on a package to improve labour market outcomes of persons with disabilities. It is time for a paradigm shift, time to rethink and find ways for people with and without disabilities to work together, together and with the appropriate support. There are enough inclusive alternatives to the workshop system that are just waiting to be politically promoted.
